Do you believe...
Every South Australian should have enough money to pay their essential bills (rent or mortgage, power, food)?
Every South Australian should have a decent chance at being educated, trained, employed?
Every South Australian should be able to feel safe?
(We haven’t even mentioned being happy…)
SACOSS believes that all South Australians deserve to live a life free from poverty and disadvantage. We advocate on behalf of vulnerable individuals currently experiencing disadvantage, to ensure that all people experience quality of life, in accordance with South Australia’s Strategic Plan.
Select a Theme from the menu at the left to find background information, together with real-life stories from people who have suffered – and in some cases overcome – disadvantage in this state. Each of the campaign’s themes has an accompanying fact sheet; they can be individually downloaded from the theme’s webpage, or you can download all five fact sheets together here.
At the campaign Conference on 28-29 July SACOSS presented a draft Blueprint to eliminate poverty in South Australia, entitled Extending Opportunity to All. The blueprint was workshopped at the conference, and officially released on 29 September 2005, along with a companion strategy document.
