Closer Than You Think is excited to have been involved in Dococom.com, a new initiative of the SA Film Corporation (SAFC) linked to the Adelaide Thinkers in Residence visit by renowned filmmaker Peter Wintonick.
Dococom.com is a novel and innovative experiment in online digital documentary production and distribution, conceived and funded by the SAFC and workshopped in collaboration with 2004 Adelaide Thinker in Residence, Peter Wintonick. The initiative has been established in response to Peter Wintonick’s commitment to media activism and encourages the telling of 'real' stories from the perspective of traditionally disenfranchised or marginalised community groups.
The Closer Than You Think production team, comprising Martin Potter of Plexus Films, Jason Sweeny, Dallas Ransom and Karen Grogan, was one of four teams making digital documentaries in this way, and worked with five disadvantaged South Australian groups to give voice to their stories.
The premiere screening of the Closer Than You Think documentary was held at the close of the conference’s first day, Thursday 28 July.
